For The People is a newly launched non-profit organization that supports District Attorneys as they seek to remedy unjust sentences. Karpel Foundation funding will be used for staffing, research, and general operating support to:

 

           1) Help DAs establish sentence review policies and procedures;

           2) Facilitate release of at least 20 people serving excessive sentences;

           3) Serve as a platform for national replication with other interested District Attorney Offices;

           4) Improve public perception and rebuild confidence and trust in the role of the prosecutor.
